Öppet brev till EU-kommissionen

Maintain the wolves’ protection in Sweden and the EU!

2023-09-21

Dear European Commission,

I cry every year when the wolf hunt starts in Sweden, I do not understand how people can be so cruel that they want to contribute to the killing and extermination of the wolf...

Do you not understand that we need more wolves, we need to strengthen the wolf population, imagine if a pandemic hit the wolves, then they would die out quite quickly because there are only a few hundred.

Why do you want to kill all the wolves? Can you answer that?

How can you bear to look yourself in the mirror, to look your children and grandchildren in the eye and tell them that it was you who killed and exterminated all the wolves?

Do you not understand that humans, animals and nature must live in symbiosis here on earth, otherwise there is no future for anyone.

At the end I would like to add something:

The lime tree of fairy tales ”Tilia Cordata” dediceras Beatrix Potter

Like all of you, I am someone who wants to be part of this "we".

We who value the flora and fauna of the earth more than the existence of our own selves.

We who love all the powers and wonders of nature more than the light of the eye and life itself.

We who know that our lives must never leave traces of wounds on the Earth... it is the Earth's trace that heals our wounds.

And man is only a guest on earth.

Beatrix Potter donated 4,000 acres of land to the National Trust in 1943, which now forms a unique part of the Lake District National Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Beatrix Potter was preserving animals, nature and culture before the word 'conservation' was even a concept, and it is for this that we can now only thank her with the most humble admiration.

The Lake District is a breathtakingly beautiful biodiversity and cultural heritage, a solace to all souls, an exceptional place on earth and a rich source of inspiration for creative souls through the ages...

Now let the lime tree of fairy tales become the symbol of our conservation journey.

For does anyone have the right to consume, to reject, to destroy all manner of the wonders of the earth?

No… no man, no woman, no one has that right... only our given time on earth that we possess and our duty to protect and nurture this earth with love and respect...

Give the young of the wild animals... The right to take their first walk on the paths of the magical primeval forests with an awake curiosity... The right to the sea and the sea in a harmonious environment... the right that every wind that the bird carries should prevail only by the pure breeze of the air...

Now, let all the elements of the earth be wild again, blossoming, blooming, green.

Fall in love with the forces of nature and let them love you... Feel the scent of seaweed as the salty wave of the sea gently caresses your bare legs, as a breeze of summer wind seductively touches your skin, as you, with ivy in your hair, let the hot kiss of the sun put a blush on your cheek...

Give the child that nature has now given you... Sparkling eyes filled with the hope and imagination of dreams, to see the magical essence of nature over the rolling fields in the splendour of the moonlight, and then to slumber in the safe embrace of the shade under the lime tree of fairy tales...

Best regards,

Ester HendriX
